Initial veterinary examination and consultation
Our aim is to improve and protect the health of your pets; we are ready to solve your pet’s health problems quickly and effectively in case of emergency and preventive examinations, during which we want to provide you with recommendations from professional specialists.
What is an initial veterinary consultation?
Initial veterinary consultation is the first visit of your pet to the Veterinarian. During the visit, the Veterinarian assesses the general health of a dog or cat, asks about the observations and concerns of a pet owner, and performs a thorough examination. During this consultation, you will also learn about the recommended vaccination schedule, parasite control, proper diet, documentation, microchipping, and other important care factors.
An initial consultation is necessary if:
- You have a new pet.
- You plan a trip with a pet.
- You have noticed unusual changes in behaviour or health.
- Your pet has not been to the Veterinarian in a long time.
What is a preventive examination and when is it performed?
A preventive examination is a regular health examination, during which a Veterinarian assesses the health status of your pet. The aim of this examination is to identify potential health problems early and prevent more serious illnesses.
Preventive examinations of dogs and cats are recommended:
• For young pets (up to 1 year old) - every 3-4 months.
• For adult dogs and cats (from 1 to 7 years old) – once a year.
• For older pets (more than 7 years old) – every 6 months.
During a preventive examination, the doctor may perform blood and urine tests, check teeth, ears, eyes, skin and fur, evaluate heart and lung function. This allows for early detection of potential problems, such as dental calculus, heart disease, or early cancer.
Why is it important to have regular preventive examinations?
Regular preventive examinations ensure that your dog or cat will live a long and healthy life. Early detected health conditions are often easier to treat, while proper care and preventive measures can help prevent serious health problems in the future.
